A Good Neighbour
Townsville Port was formed in 1864 and the City developed a few years after. The Port is at the mouth of Ross Creek and is an integral part of the community. Being a true city port requires harmonising operations with the liveability of our community neighbours.
We are proud to be part of the communities we serve and strive to deliver improvements in our social impact. Annually we will measure our social impact on our neighbours including but not limited to environmental impacts, climate actions, increase of green and community spaces, economic value as well as education and training. We will take actions to improve our social impact by 50% by 2050. Our baseline assessment for our social impact index is currently being undertaken and will be shared in August 2021.
We commit to being transparent and open to your feedback and improvement suggestions through all channels of communication and our annual Community Surveys. The result of the latest Community Survey can be found here. You can also sign up for our community newsletter to keep up to date with everything happening at the Port.
Together with you, our communities, we have created 85,000sqm of peaceful and tranquil community spaces that are green and for recreational purposes only. We are committed to increase those spaces to 100,000 sqm over the next five years for the community to enjoy.
We will be a good neighbour by:
- Creating positive outcomes for the community
- Building trust through engagement and responsiveness
